On November 6 through November 8, Martin J. McDermott who is a Marketing Professor and Faculty Advisor for the Kaplan University Collegiate Entrepreneur's Organization (CEO) was a guest speaker at their national conference in Chicago. The conference took place at the McCormick Convention Center. Over 1,600 people attended the event. Attendees to the conference got to hear speakers on a variety of topics relating to entrepreneurship.
The title of Professor McDermott's presentation was called "The Franchise Alternative for the Collegiate Entrepreneur." Professor McDermott presented a 45 minute seminar on future entrepreneurs pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams through franchising. Professor McDermott also spoke about the different types of entrepreneurs, what to look for when buying a franchise as well as a question and answer session.
Professor McDermott stated, "I was extremely impressed with the students and speakers at the conference. So many people left this event motivated, educated and inspired. I am already excited to attend next year's national conference!"
Other speakers at the conference were Robert Kiyosaki, author of the very successful book, Rich Dad Poor Dad and Doris Christopher who is the founder and chairman of The Pampered Chef.
